Hey guys, bought a 05 5.4 L last month and like everything about it except the gas mileage. I mainly use my vehicle from and to work and to tow my 18ft center console boat.
Over the last Sunday I decided to remove the headlights and make em look bit different.

Took me total of 5 hours with removing and installing it back onto the car and running to a store to get new silicone for the headlight. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask. These were my 3rd lights i have done as i have done them on my old 350z and a vw gti.

I was considering doing that on mine, but I was worried I would melt the wires in the housing. Seems yours turned out OK. :)

Eventually I'm going to get another set of HL since the ones I have have "heat hazed" up pretty bad on the inside. Seems yours are starting to do it as well.

you won't melt them unless you leave em in the oven for a long time or go above 250 degrees. i would heat them up, try to pry of one part, put them back in to keep the silicone nice and soft and work my way out. once i pulled them apart, i would remove all of its silicone around the headlight and used black RVT silicone (can be purchased at napa, autozone) for a perfect seal. it rained hard yestrday and didnt get any condesation or fogging.

Yea, I had an idea of how to do it, just had the doubt about the wiring. But, it looks like it's a green light.

When I replace the ones I have, I'll throw those in there, just to try it. :p

that looks good! how hard was it to pull them apart? did you scuff up the chrome before you sprayed them or did you just spray?? what paint did you use and did you prime or just spray? sorry for all the questions... I've been wanting to do this to my headlights, now it's time to do your fogs

No need to be sorry for all the questions. To pull apart the lense cover is wasnt too easy and definitely time consuming. i had to pre heat them many times and pull apart section by section while pre heating. I didnt have to to scuff the chrome, i just wiped it with windex and some of it actually came off. Its also a good idea to throughly clean the inside of the lense before putting everything together. To be honest, you can use just about any paint. easiest to use is a flat black paint and do at least 3 coats.

If you're going to go that much trouble why not retrofit HID projectors?
