Apparently the economy hasn't hit you quite as hard as it hit me! Can't wait to see the pics of the new upgrades and installs.

I ordered the 0 guage wire from Amazon, it's DB-link brand. I ordered 2 50' spools. Make sure you order the wire ends too. I think the ones I ordered were stinger? brand 0 guage terminals. If you have a vise and a torch and some solder, they work really well. (Not sure if thats the correct method, but it worked on my last project.

The Viper 5904v is the high end of what they offer. 2-way transmitter, smart start capability, hi-def screen on the fob (totally unnecessary), iphone interaction (lock unlock, status, start, etc, from anywhere in the world). My buddy unlocked his truck from Mexico so his friend could grab something out of it, at least that's what he said :)

I'm currently wiring the new speakers, and am about to remove the rear drivers side panel (where i'm going to mount the amps (hidden). I may see how much room I have behind that panel, and may build an odd shaped box for a hidden 10". We'll see once I open it up... I'm not really a fan of "seeing" anything, so i'm hoping I can hide most everything. I peaked through the fuel reset panel, and it seems there's enough cubic air volume back there to fit two amps and a 10" sub. Hoping.

Second battery?

In my opinion Capacitors are overrated. If you're doing a big time stereo, you might as well get a high output alternator to go with it.

If you're running your stereo with the ignition off, then a second battery is a must, but a capacitor still doesnt do anything for you, other than drain the battery faster.

I had dual 270xp DC alternators in my Yukon with two Odyssey 100wh batteries. I never had a problem pushing 2000 watts for a couple hours. With no Capacitor.

to me, most Capacitors are for looks. It completes the whole amps, subs, crossovers, caps look that some people are looking for. I'd rather hide everything, and go big alternator to keep things running without dimming lights.

The cap is there to recharge for the next bass hit, so you dont have voltage drop, but with a sufficient alternator, you'll never notice a voltage drop anyway, and you'll have piece of mind knowing you can run other electronics (inverter, lights) in any situation, without worrying about brownouts.

No offense, just giving my opinion!

depending on the battery type, i'd definitely run at least a 12v computer fan in there. just to keep things cool and vented.

If it's anything but a sealed battery, you definitely want to vent it outside especially knowing the fuel tank inlet is right there.

If I was crazy, i'd pull the jack storage in the floor, get rid of the spare, and put a battery bank there...

Hmm... I might have just added to this project.

Working on a "stealth" box that will fit in the rear panel.

It's under the 1 cu foot of air volume that they suggest for a closed box, but I think it'll sound fine.

Sorry, got a bit messy with the glue trying to strengthen up the rounded piece that rides the wheel well...

The sub fits. Thank god!

Where is the jack storage on yours? in the back cargo area, or in the side panel?

Yea, i'm hoping that it sounds alright.

The JL comes with a sub (I believe) that is the right size for the volume of the box, and it comes with mounting brackets that line right up with the truck.

I'm really hesitant to break out the dremel and cut a giant circle in the panel before I temp wire it up and see how it sounds. Even then, i'm still a bit slow to make that cut ;)

I suppose a couple of buds and i'll be hacking away!

Sidenote- The JL is only made for the EL version of the 07+ expeditions

I love it!

The only negative I can see with it are glare, and even with the new "fast" software, it lags just a bit.

Beside those 2 issues, it's amazing.

DVD player and DVD out to any other monitor.
Reverse cam hookup
Bluetooth
The Nav software is the best i've seen
Ipod hookup and interface
Iphone and Ipad interface with video input
Sirius XM capability
bluetooth streaming wireless music
etc.

It's really a badass unit!

You can also go into "iphone app" mode and watch Netflix, Hulu, and use the slingplayer app on the go.

Comcast in the car!

And by on the go, I mean parked safely with the parking brake on of course ;)

So I did a temp wiring of the sub, and I have to say, it sounds great! Just enough bass. Not breaking windows or anything, but it really sounds nice.

Now I just have to put it in place, secure it, wire it, hide the amp, hide the 4 channel amp, and find a nice beige grille to mount on the outside of the panel.

And wire up the lights, install the ceiling monitor, wire it, and make everything look as though it had been there forever...

It's Budweiser time!

Yea we were talking about that earlier in the thread.

It would involve relocating the spare, but i'd definitely like the room for a couple of extra batteries. It'd be a great spot for valuables too, laptop ipad, camera equipment, etc.
