I just bought a 2004 4x4 XLT SSV (police package) with a 5.4L. I'm looking at the K&N air filter; I'm talking to K&N and researching it right now - it is extremely difficult to get real world answers about their performance, btw. with the 3.73 rear, it already has impressive acceleration, though i pay for it with 11+ city mpg, and almost 16 highway mpg on 93 octane.
The plugs were changed about 12k miles before I bought it (i have the carfax). I have to replace rear rotors, probably going to go solid EBC with ceramic pads. Must get tires this year, planning for Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure w/Kevlar in 315/70/17 with a 3/2 lift. I want a body lift, but I am not going to put the RIZE 8", $4300 lift on it. Not happening. If i can't find something cheaper and lower, there won't be a body lift. I am concerned about the skinny ass front drive shaft coming out of the differential... judging from the case, the actual shaft inside it might be less than an inch in diameter... it does not look like it will handle much torque to a big tire. any input on this would be welcome.
I'm researching programmers, and exhausts. This one came with dual cats feeding into a single muffler, I want headers into the cats, with duals all the way back through two mufflers. I'm looking for the NBX skid plates, and I will have the dealer perform the J-Mod on the 4R70 transmission.
your suggestions are welcome.
thanks for your time.
