Got a 1999 4x4 and a new noise in the front end. It happens during hard acceleration. Once up to speed it doesn't do it. It's a rolling/moving type of noise. I jacked it up and touched everything under there. The only thing with movement in it is the front drive shaft. I can rotate it 2-3" in either direction. is that normal? All the tie rods are loose but not making the noise. CV shafts are intact and not clicking. Front diff is a little low on oil, I can stick my pinkie in and bend it and it touches oil. Is that too low? Can this cause my noise? When I put it in 4 hi the noise get worse and sounds like a grinding type noise but very low pitched. Any suggestions before taking it in? I like to do my own work but I can't figure this one out. Thanks!!
