just got a 98 EB Expedition; presently assessing what to fix/rebuild. starting with the front end with Rockauto kit.

my first question: I've got less than a quarter tank of approx. 2 yr old gas in the tank. should I try to get it out somehow or just fill it with fresh and hope for the best? I have driven the car about 2 miles from the seller to my residence... engine fired right up and seemed to be running smooth. thanks in advance for any suggestions.

welcome aboard.

take the time and drain it. change your fuel filter too. run some high-quality cleaner through the whole system as well as I would suspect gum/varnish is certainly built up. might also take a peek at your throttle body opening too while you're doing your filter/fluids assessment &/or changes.

how do I drain it? My 57 Fairlane has a simple drain plug on the tank. I suspect the Exp fuel tank is different...
thanks, Mark

Disconnect fuel supply line from the fuel rail. Connect a section of hose to the supply line that is long enough to fit into a container on the ground. Jump the fuel pump relay so the the fuel pump drains the tank.
