hey guys (and gals?),

New here looking for some help. I have a 97' eb expy 4x4 i've owned since 99'. Today I noticed it driving really weird, almost seemed go-kart like. Looked at drivers side and it was sitting LOW..... Jacked her up, and noticed that the bar which attaches to (or is an integral part of?) the lower a arm and attaches to the frame near the back, is BROKEN. Huge bummer. looks expensive, and/or time consuming. Anyone out there have shop drawings to show the attachments? also, any advice would be much appreciated!

the new guy

Your torsion bar is broken. Since the one broke, I could not tell you if your other one has a chance of breaking soon, but I think they are priced around $80 a piece (one per side).

you broke a t bar??? that sucks. dont drive around. thats the "spring" in your suspension. should cost around $80 for a new one, or if you can find a good used one from a junk yard. and it is the spring in your system. its under pressure and twisted causing a spring action. did you go off any jumps lately? haha i havent broken mine... yet... knock on wood... OUCH too hard... my hand dosent hurt by the way...

Thanks for the responses guys! The torsion bar,,,,ugh. Is that thing pressed into the a-arm? Is it a shop fix or can I do it myself without too much risk of bodily injury? Thanks for the info, I'm going to call the local parts house and get some pricing and info.

Don't know what the hell I did to break the damn thing. Wish I could tell you I put her airborn duke boy style:), but I think the damn thing just gave up on me!

@86caprirs, thanks! If you could post a parts pic that would be a huge help if I tackle this myself.
