New Motorcraft brake hose woes

I’m replacing the hydraulic hose on the passenger side of my truck and it keeps trying to cross thread by hand. The threads won’t line up from the steel line to the rubber hose no matter what. Anyone have this issue? I undid all the mount and it still won’t go.

Apparently nobody who buys lines from Ford gets a break. It seems you are supposed to re-tap and dye the threads...my mistake. They are made with a “rough thread” which isn’t a plug and play deal. LOL.....sarcasm.

1/8” National Pipe thread works ok. Run it in about 2 threads and then the line will clean up the rest for you and hit the flare and seal. Don’t worry about using a tapered thread dye, that’s not the seal anyway it relies on the flare. All done.

Truck feels light as a feather on acceleration now, thing must have been really dragging. Anyway online I found a good test to share if you have dragging brake concerns. Hit the brakes a few times then loosen the bleeder valve on the caliper, if it flies out the line is collapsed. If it drips your caliper is seized. I replaced the caliper months ago with no change, the hydraulic hose ended up being the culprit. Thread issues seem widespread on the Motorcraft hoses and quality control isn’t great, so be ready to tap the threads.

I had the same problem with threads, same part number and had to put the old hose back. Wasted hours. Then I found a set of brake hose fitting tap and dies on ebay. Made the job a snap. I thought I was the only one with the bad threads!
