Ok so I kinda went a little over the top from my normal setup and got 2 jlw3 12's with a rockford fosgate prime 1000-1 amp in a ported box. This is wayyy more than i'm used to because ive only had subs under the seats in my other trucks. Anyway, I listen to more rock and blues type music than I do rap and ground pounding type stuff. So my question is, do I need to switch from a ported to a sealed box to get tighter bass? And I want to build one that will run the length of my trunk from side to side just to give it kind of a custom look i suppose, but I know I have to worry about airspace. Does anyone have any ideas on a build and also, do I need to separate the subs if I build a box or let them share the same air space?

If you want tighter bass then definatley go with a sealed encloser. It sounds like you will have pleanty of power from that amp so it should sound really good. As for seperating the subs, I never like running them in the same air space. You can do that but if you do not run them in a mono setup then they will fight eachother, plus I feel the sound tighter when they have there own air space.

That amps a little weak but it will work. Yea sealed for crisp bass.
