so i've just run into a couple gremlins in the new ride. (about two months old now).

first one, my nav screen locked up (completely unresponsive). radio power button, steering wheel media controls all non functional, map not moving. only thing that was working was the volume up/down (radio continued to play).
parked and powered down, and was back to normal after the power cycle.

Second one has been going on for a couple days now, still trying to track it down. I think there is either a short or some moisture in the rear window button (to open the glass). couple times vehicle parked and unlocked, and i notice the lights come on. go out and the rear window catch is actuating a bunch of times and open (so interior lights come on)..
I could literally stand at the rear of the vehicle and listen to the actuator just go crazy. has done this once after i parked as well.
So i've knocked the button around a bit, and pressed it a few dozen times, and it seems to be okay for the moment (since yesterday), but will see if it's still an issue shortly i'm sure. Almost positive it's something with the button, as when the vehicle is locked (which would otherwise prevent the button from working), it's not an issue.

Haven't looked for codes yes, was getting late last night, but i'll take the laptop out later and check.

i took a quick phone video of it, not my best example of good video, but you can hear the actuator going off a bunch of times

It appears that it’s not latching when it closes either? Looks very similar to if not the same as the 3rd gen setup back there. I’d see if anyone with a 3rdgen had the issue and had it resolved.

Might just be a quick adjustment. I'd suggest a trip to the dealer so they can reinstall your software & adjust your rear door?

finally put the laptop on the vehicle.. there is actually an error code on the BCM:
C1017 - Boot/Trunk primary switch, circuit short to ground

so basically what i was thinking, there is a short somewhere in the wiring. Now it's just the debate of taking the time to take it into a dealer or just pop the back cover off and check for a loose connection.

You said the vehicle is 2 moths old. It doesn't look like a new vehicle to me. What year are we talking about.

yea, i was just gonna say, just cause' it's dirty, doesn't mean it isn't new.. it's impossible to keep a vehicle clean in this city.

I've had the nav screen do that to me twice (about a month ago). I did what you did. Stop, park, power down and then restart - cleared the condition. I checked firmware versions and I am current.

Other than that, no issues. I just wish they had hard wired the DVD screens into the audio system (I can't get the Bluetooth connection to the front audio system to work at all). But that's another complaint covered in another thread on the forum. Dumb.

Update.. Had my vehicle in the shop today, explained in great detail issues with back door, probably loose connection, etc..
Get vehicle back today, not fixed. So while i'm sitting on my driveway tonight, i get a nice video from my rear dashcam of the issue to give to ford service.. then i review the video from today.

So the technician's finding was the latch hook was maladjusted (the metal loop that clicks into the locking mechanism. He lengthened it, went around the block for a test drive, and called it fixed. Didn't' touch the BCM fault.
So then i start watching the video from the day, which nicely captures the truck being driven into the service bay, guy looking at the window, and THREE MINTUES later, out driving around and parking it. O.M.F.G.

I was heated on the way home when my rear wiper didn't work properly (due to the window being looser - wiper not making proper connection).. but I swear, when i watched the video tonight...

after watching my front and rear dashcam for the day, I can clearly make out the fact the tech did not in fact plug in the IDU to check for codes, or do a test drive with the IDU plugged in as i was told. He pulled into the garage, fiddled with the latch, and drove it around the block before parking...
So they didn't check the computer, they didn't look at my problem, and then they lied to my face.

service tech checking out the hatch. (the front video doesn't really show anything more, except him pulling in, getting out, then getting a wrench.

and the issue with the actuator:

and the error code on the BCM, which i cleared, and which came back while i was making the second video:
C1017:11-48
Boot / Trunk Primary Switch
Circuit short to ground

Next time before i take into service i'm setting the timeout on my powerpoints to a full hour. (currently only set to 45 seconds - so i couldn't watch the entire service call)

How do y’all have your dash cam wired for power? I haven’t installed mine yet and I’m curious how best to get power.

I'm just plugged into the power points (12v cig lighter ports), in the cubby in the front, and the rear power point (to the right when standing at back of the vehicle.

The front wire is routed along the header, A frame, door, under glovebox, and along center console, basically 95% hidden.
the rear wire i still just have hanging there, haven't figured out exactly if i like how the rear is currently mounted.

I gotta have mine hardwired and wired hidden. Not sure where this compulsion came from but it’s a strong one for me to keep a clean cabin.

Before long there will be someone on YouTube installing one on one of these vehicles and I’m hoping the Expy is identical to the Navi when it comes to installing. The dang interior panels in the Navi offer no gaps or wiggle room to hint at any type of disassembly as in the other cars I’ve owned. I don’t wanna pay for an install either as I’m sure the majority of installers on models this new are just as clueless.

I will def need to take mines back in(will be the third time), i still think the moonroof is rattling on the right side, but now the whole right side somewhere in the rear is creaking bad. Better get it taken care of now. We took it to phillie this past wknd and did hit a huge pothole(person in front banged on it and someone beside me so couldnt move) on that side so i know that has to do something with it as afterwards is when it started. I think somethin was knocked loose on that side.
