Just dropping in to say hi since I will probably be very active on the boards as I get my new project off the ground!

I just picked up a 2001 Lincoln Navigator for $1,000... 4x4, every option available at the time, 220,000 mi on it and runs great. one owner and he just put new tires on it. I bought it as a toy. It needs upper and lower ball joints so while I'm down there it's out with the air ride and in with springs and a small lift! Today I recharged the AC and put a new head unit and speakers in. Had a local shop give the AC a once over and quoted me $1,200 to fix it.... I'm sure that will be my next project to tackle, but I have zero experience with AC systems!

What's wrong with it?

t

Sorry, I wrote that weird. When I got the vehicle it wasn't blowing cold so I took it to a shop and had the complete system checked for $20. Then I had him print me off the estimate to I could source the parts and try it myself.

It is the Expansion Valve and Evap Core on the rear system plus some odds and ends (hoses, orifice tube, ect.) The parts are not that expensive and it does not look hard to replace them, I just need to do a bit more research before I play with a pressurized refrigerant system!

I decided to do the easy way first and pumped 2 cans of R134+leak stop and 2 more cans of just R134 into it. Its been cold for the last few weeks, I hope I can just add more every now and then to keep it cold. I bought 12 cans of the stuff for $50 (1/3 the cost of a can at the local store)
