started as a no crank issue that would usually occur when it got colder out. I put a new battery and new starter in and didn't help I then changed the neutral safety switch that didn't help I then changed the ignition switch and it started one time after changing it. when I shut the truck off my key stuck in the lock cylinder so I changed that only for it to lock the key again and now not cranking at all with my anti theft light blinking rapidly. I have been reading about the pats system and don't know if my rig has it or not my key is an axxess key and doesn't seem to have a chip in it. anyone have any info on this problem? any help will be much appreciated currently stuck with no vehicle missing work trying to avoid having it towed to the dealer thanks in advance

From what I encountered in a previous job with this, your only options may be to use an original key that is programmed into memory, a tuner to disable pats or a trip to the dealer.

What year is your truck and how many times did you change your key?/cylinder? Can you show pics of the key and the underside of the steering column with the cover off?

Check out my posting on the forum on the Pats system. Your truck should have PATS. It should and looks like it does there is a black ring around the cylinder from what I can tell from the pic. Looks like you don't have an original ford key anymore and sounds like the key may have lost the code.

Search the truck especially on the driver and passenger area. What you're looking for is part of a key or a chip (like a memory card or SIM chip). Previous owner might have placed it near the ignition area and accidentally fell off. That's the transponder chip.

ive looked all over and cannot find a little chip any where but there must be one somewhere or it would've never started in the first place ill keep looking and try and figure it out I do have a parts expedition I can get parts off of I was thinking just take the cylinder and transponder and key from it and put on mine but the cylinder is a different style then the one I have. anyone ever changed the pats transponder on one? wondering if I could just unplug mine and put the parts one on if I got the key for it if it would work. thanks for all the input most ive gotten out of anywhere lol

Going back to your post Dec 16, 2016 at 6:42 PM there were three wires spliced into the ignition plug from an auto start you cut and reconnected them to the stock wires. They should have spliced into more than three wires. If you got a self piercing test light double check you new connections and these other wires to make sure they are ok.

Ignition blue/lt. green
Accessory red/black and gray/yellow
Second Accessory black/green

Transceiver:
There should have been a Transponder Interface connected to your transceiver wires. I would check along these wires look for a key sized box. I believe these wire go from a white four wire connect to the right of the column up to the black transceiver and ring at the cylinder. There are four thin wires wrapped in black plastic insulator those are your transceiver wires. These wires usually will not make good connections. The are only two good methods to make these connections. One is soldering the other is the snake and wrap method. Tapping into these wires can break the wires. Butt connectors rarely work well on these as the wires are to thin and the connectors can not grip them. Check theses wires for breaks and or connectors. Test the connections. Sometimes its easier to replace the transceiver assembly as the wires are very thin.
