2019 Expedition 7,000 miles. Out of nowhere it beeped when I open/shut door while running. Flashed "no key detected" but the Fob was in it.
I tried both fobs and it still did it periodically. Next day, the one fob wouldnt unlock or lock it. Tried the other and it worked.........
Thinking bad fob battery..... until the other one didnt work..... and vice versa.
Now, 2 days later and they are working fine. No code popping up.
    Thoughts?

Does it still do it when the key is in the backup slot under the front cup holder?

Several months ago I went to a local store. I took the key and went into the store. When I came out, the Expy said "No key detected". I must have dropped the the key. I looked all over, retraced my steps (it's a small store) but couldn't find it.

I keep a spare wrapped in tin foil, so I used that to get home. I went back to the store, posted a "lost key" sign, looked repeatedly, but didn't find it. I mean I had to have lost it within a 200' path. I figured I dropped it and someone picked it up.

After a coupe of weeks, I paid almost $300 and got a new key.

A week later I found the missing key in a pants pocket. It had been there all along, but didn't register.

    It's a mystery.

Was it in the same pocet as your phone? Sometimes they can interfere with each other I have found....

Does wrapping the spare key in foil block the radio signal from the key? I wouldn't think tin foil is thick or heavy duty enough to do that, then again, it was amazing how a gob of foil on rabbit ears improved TV reception (God, I'm old!). I might have to try this tomorrow just out of curiosity!

Yes it works. I then wrap it in a little bubble wrap so the foil doesn't get damaged.

I always try to ensure the aluminum foil is doubled and completely surrounds the key. I keep some aluminum my expedition and my wife’s Hyundai just in case I need to leave a key inside. It also works for a hat if I think the government is trying to listen to my thoughts. : )

When I need the foil for my key, I just take it off my hat.
