No lock on gas tank door

According to the wiring diagrams, China gets a "Fuel filler door lock solenoid".

On the Mercedes MLs I had the fuel filler door locked and unlocked with the door locks. To me that's the best of both worlds. It was only a problem when I got gas in NJ where they don't let you pump yourself.

The China one in the diagram is wired in parallel with the drivers door lock.

My Infiniti FX45 fuel filler door locked and unlocked with the door locks too. It was easy to use and a little more secure. Sure, someone could pry the door open if they really wanted to, but it might discourage idle vandalism and theft.

personally id like to get rid of the POS (cant get the tank full to the brim, and its always spilling over and down the paint)!

Anyone figured out a way to remove it an move to a traditional cap (then we could buy a locking caps too).

of course....just like I do on all my other vehicles, because these tanks are poorly vented you can often get 2-5 gallons more in the tank

2-5 gallons lol I doubt it. The topping off myth has been busted for over a decade, probably more. It’s a waste of money and can damage your vehicle. But don’t take my word for it.

all my other vehicles absolutely I can easily get another 2 gallons in the wrangler and the Miata.....and in our coach I can get 5-10 gallons.
