Upgraded recently from a 2016 EL to a 2021 Max and have been experiencing a high pitched whistle when towing. I tow a flat bed utility trailer with either a golf cart or lawn mower fairly frequently and have not experienced this noise with either my F150 or previous Expedition, so I do not believe its from the trailer or load.

The noise appears above 60 mph and does not seem to be dependent upon RPMs. I have noticed it in cross and head winds. I have tried folding the side mirrors, but there was no change. From the driver seat, it sounds like it is coming from the roof behind me. The noise has never been experienced without the trailer. I am guessing the tongue weight is changing the angle/rake of the vehicle and therefore changing the air flow which causes this.

The vehicle does have a panoramic sunroof and crossbars on the roof rails. I am going to try to remove the cross bars and then tape off the sun roof if unsuccessful.

Has anyone experienced this with their vehicle, or have any other suggestions?
