Dear all,
I am hoping that someone on this forum can offer me a little guidance. First, my Expy is a 2006 Limited 4X4, with 89,000 miles on it. Recently I noticed while driving up grades or anytime there is any more than a flat and level "load" on the engine, I will hear an occasional sound that sounds like someone "shushing" (sorry, best descrIption can come up with). If I let off the throttle even minutely, the sound goes away for a couple of minutes. This repeats as long as I am going up an incline. Noticed it quite a bit yesterday towing my father's boat from sea level (San Pedro, Ca) to about the 2,000 foot level.
I am wondering if anyone has experienced a similar issue, and if so, what did it ultimately turn out to be. There did not appear to be any loss of power, but as mentioned, letting off the throttle even a tiny amount made the sound go away. Kind of disconcerting to be having to do that in traffic on the 110 freeway going through downtown Kid Angeles. Any direction that I could point my mechanic to would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all in advance!
