Ive noticed an annoying rattle coming from the passenger side roof area. My best guess is that it is coming from the roof rack runners. Ive had to take my crossbars off in order to fit in certain parking garages. Maybe removing the crossbars is now causing the runners to rattle somehow? Is there a way to tighten down the runners? Can the chrome covering be tightened to the core somehow?

Aren’t there screws in the rails that slide the crossbars back and forth? Maybe ones loose. Excuse all the pollenFDCAF29D-1AC7-450E-9ADF-22BD84858148.jpeg

@wakeboarder is probably on to something here.

As the weather changes (cold to hot and back again) the roof expands and contracts enough that the sunroof can get a little cattywampus. When that occurs, the sunroof does rattle. To fix the situation, just press the button to vent your sunroof; as the back pops up, you will hear a very loud THUNK which is the sunroof unbinding itself from whatever pinch the roof had caused. Then just close the vent again and your rattle should be resolved.

Until the weather changes again.

I also have a weird rattle coming from the roof. I thought it was coming from the crossbars or roof rack runners, however that's not the case. I've isolated the site of the odd rattle to the driver's side, 3rd row (2019 Expy Max), just behind the clothes hanger of the headliner. The rattle only occurs in colder temperatures (less than 25 degrees). I can recreate the sound by pounding my fist on the headliner in this area. I'm thinking it might be the duct work that is making the sound. I hesitate to have the dealer drop the headliner to fix whatever is loose, because I fear that something else will break in the process. If I can figure out how to take the coat hanger out, I'd like to stick a small pencil type of camera in there to see what it causing the issue.
