Odometer Light?

Does anyone have their odometer light go on and off? Mine works when it wants to and goes off when it wants to. It always keeps the correct mileage, but doesn't stay on.

Had a mechanic tell me he would diagnose it for me... at a $100. For now its not that important, but any insight would be appreciated!

Its retty easy fix from what i understand. just some cold welds that need to be resolderedededed if you know what your doing cant see it taking more than a few hours to diy it. seems to be very common

But it looks a bit more technical than I am. I can take that puppy apart. Could probably even get it all back together with no problems... but resolderededededing it is more than I know what to do. I'll have to do some more info gathering to see if this is something I can figure out. Thanks for the links and the info!

if you are unsure you could grab a used cluster on ebay or the junkyard near you with that and when you think you got it right it would be as easy as ulling the old one and trying out your new you fixed. shouldnt cost more than 3 dollars for the donor cluster. that is how im going to do my leds on my cluster. no need to mess up what already works fine. just a thought even if you mess it upi cost less than a night out drinking and meybe a better story

I just did this fix as I had the dash apart for other issue anyways. Did not see anything wrong with the solder joint as viewed by the naked eye but resoldered suspect pin pointed out in thread anyways. So far so good! My odometer now stays on!!

I just fixed mine last night, took maybe 1/2 hour. you need only 2 sockets/a extension to take it out, if you don't know how to solder buy your self a iron, watch some videos on you tube, practice and learn yourself a valuable skill.
