Can you just swap out the 6 disc with the oem navigation unit or are there other wiring issues that need to be done?

Bump...anyone know if you can direct swap the oem 6 disc for the oem nav unit? Also does the nav unit have all the same features as the 6 disc e.g. remote control from middle seat, DVD ent. system integration, sat integration, etc?

Hey this is my first post here. ANyways, my wife just got a new 06 Expedition XLT and I want to add the factory Ford Navigation. Anyone have experience, to know where to find info on making the swap?

I don't know if they are completely swappable. However, I would caution from using the Ford OEM navigation system. I just bought an 06 King Ranch and test drove one with the navi system on I-45 in Houston, and it was constantly wrong. If you have the extra money to drop on navi, I would definitely suggest going aftermarket. I am waiting for my Pioneer AVIC-Z1 to arrive, and I'll have it installed by the end of the week with pics to post.

ThisIsZachary, please post once you have this unit installed and let us know how it went. I am curious if you will be able to integrate all of the controls e.g. steering wheel, rear control, reverse muting, etc. Thanks in advance for taking the time to post.

I'll post an update and pictures once I get it in. I've chatted with other Expedition owners on other websites and I know that they have successfully integrated a reverse camera (though I didn't buy that option) and steering wheel controls (I bought that option).

I don't expect it to take more than a few hours... of course the Crutchfield representative told me it was a "breeze" for those that have installed CD/tape players in cars.

As for the reverse muting, that may be an option of the Pioneer of which I am not aware. That certainly doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but my Expedition OEM unit doesn't do it...

Anywho, I'll let everyone know how it goes... perhaps making an independent post with pictures.

Looking forward to the pics. My Expy has the reverse sensors which mutes the stereo when it beeps. I am pretty sure you can just connect this to the crutchfield input but I am not for sure. What other Expy forums to you use for info?

Ah, I see what you mean. I have the reverse sensors too. I'll let you know if that muting functionality is carried over to the Pioneer.

I don't use another Expy forums, but I use a forum specifically for the Pioneer navistereo that I'm installing. The website is www.avic411.com. There are a few people there with late model Expys and F-250s (from what I understand, the bodies/wiring are essentially the same, except for the third row seating/truck bed area).
