oil consumption?

what is the likeliest cause for my oil consumption? I've had a recent motor swap on my 99 expy (5.4 triton) eddie baurer. There are no leaks from motor, but is this a common problem? the motor doesn't smoke any blue. any comments will be appreciated. thx

You named two of three ways i know of. Oil burn off can be so slight that you will not see blue smoke. These vehicles have 4 cats and can burn off the oil pretty well. Oil consumption can be as mush as a quart to 1500 miles. Drips are easy to spot. Last way is the worse. Oil moving into the coolant by way of a crack in the block. check your coolant for oil.
