97 with 4.6L.... Ok I just bought this expedition a few weeks ago.... about a day after i bought it the check engine light came on. Shows codes for a misfire on #4 and an egr code.... it has an miss but not all the time. Yesterday I finally got time to change the plugs.... (start with the cheapest thing) I went to pull #4 first and when i pulled the plug wire it was wet... so i stuck my socket in the hole and coolant splashed up out of there. I dont see anywhere it could have came from so i kinda freaked thinking maybe a head gasket but I pulled the plug and it looked fine no white residue or anything. Also the coolant level hasnt dropped at all since i bought it... doesnt smoke and it doesnt get hot. Im stumped really.... I dont know whats going on... Anyone else ever run into anything like this?

very common problem with the first gen expys... the coolant hose that runs along the firewall has a small leak that drips right onto the #4... I'll look to see if I can find the threads but I know what your describing is a leak in the hose that drips right on number 4 cyl....

also merger should take place in the next couple weeks... the owner of both of the sites is trying to find to complete the move
