Damn! Now I feel guilty for posting this thread :p

I tried to keep the story within the realm of possibility.:evil27: But as curious as I may be I have no plans to test the top end.. There is also no such thing as a deserted road in baltimore. Always traffic.. :(

You got me... now to relatiate with math!

Assuming 1st gen Expy with:
Unlimed power
5500rpm RL,
Stock 4r100 ratios,
3.73 rearend,
265/70r17 tires

5500 rpm / .71 4th gear / 3.73 final drive = rpm at tire = 2076.80rpm

265-70r17s -> 99.293in circ = 8.274 ft *2076.80rpm = 9044.76 fpm = 3.254 mpm =

195.267 mph (205.98 with 3.55 rearend)

Since I do not have unlimited hp....

I have 3.55's but my rev limiter is set at 6,000 rpm. Shift point is 5,600. I really do not think it would have any trouble winding out 3rd gear or 1 to 1 ratio which would be 145ish I believe. Overdrive is obviously going to be aerodynamically limited vs the powerband.

Stock lightnings top speed is around 147mph. But I am making significantly more power than a stock lightning. Weight is really not a factor for top speed by aerodynamics certainly is!! My guess is it would be a little better than a stock lightning due to the increase in hp but then it is far less aerodynamic due to the 4x4 stance so who knows? It also has additional parasitic drag due to the 4wd components spinning..

I actually got mine up to 113 (no speed limiter) today. That was off road. Granted it was a dry lake bed (el mirage dry lake bed). It was actually smooth. The car we were testing hit 149.593mph according to the radar.

on aerodynamics for a 2nd gen frontal area of 60sq ft. it would take 1500 hp to hit 200mph. if i can find the calculator i used i will post it.

I did say unlimited power...

I don't even want to think of the cost in a 1500hp+ Modular V8 build...

Fastest I have been is 129mph but that was in my mustang in just 1320 ft. The expy can only hit 107.44mph in the same distance. I do hope to improve upon that in the future but it will have to wait. More $$ and time needed.. :(

Have all kinds of ideas but short on funds....
