Outside air temperature display malfunction

Hi gang.

I’ve owned my 2008 for about three years. On three separate occasions the outside temperature reading is incorrect by a substantial amount, the reading is far lower than actual during the summer. This malfunction affects the automatic setting for the climate control. Does anyone know what causes this and/ or how to repair it?

There's a sensor that's mounted behind the pass side headlight. Had to change mine on my 08, same problem. Fixed it, so far.
