Got a recurring P0605 code on my 2011 - internal control module ROM error.

How do I troubleshoot this? Or, even, do I troubleshoot this?

If the ECM needs replaced, does it have to be the exact part number? car-part.com lists a
LOT of variants.

I’ve got my wrecked 2011 to pull parts from, wondering if I could use that ECM. Haven’t yet checked to see if they’re the same or different.

Ouch, that’s gonna hurt. ROM = read only memory. That’s where all the vehicles specific crap is stored. First I would try to flash the ROM. If it flashes the problem is elsewhere.
If it doesn’t flash, you got a few options.
A: replace the ECM and get a new one and get it programmed.
B: get a junker ECM, swap the ROM and then reprogram that.
C: open up the ECM and look inside, maybe there is something obvious like a cold solder joint on the ROM, corrosion etc.
