Long time lurker, fist time posting.
04 EB Expedition recently got a CEL (P1633) and shortly after that no power to HVAC unit, no remote start or door locks, locked in park. Blowing fuse 5 (PCM). Vehicle runs and drives

Any one of the branch circuits can cause your short. I use an ato circuit breaker instead of fuses when troubleshooting the circuits. That keeps the cost down since I'm not buying fuses.

The proper t/s way would be to isolate each branch circuit and see if the breaker trips. Then once it is found check the modules on that branch. You will need the correct terminal release tool to pull the connector out of the plug.

Thanks Stamp! I may be in over my head but I'm going to give it a try. Do you have a part number or name of the terminal release tool?

Thanks again Stamp. I have signed up for FORSCAN and should have my dongle and breaker fuse tomorrow. Can I connect with forscan to the modules on fuse5 with a blown fuse (short)??

Nope, they need power to operate. If the canbus has a short there may not be any communication with Forscan.

Looking at that wiring diagram it's nice to know if I was in your situation I'd only have to troubleshoot 5 out of the 11 sub-branches lol thumbs up for a basic XLT model

Ps I'm not gonna lie I am confused about this:

What is confusing? Actually I have 8 to TS. I'm pretty sure I can cross off the brake light switch since I just replaced it (so 7). Still a PITA!!!!

Its "locked" in park meaning you can not shift it to reverse, neutral or drive... so how does it "drive" if it can't move the gear shifter?

There is a plug hole on the bottom of the steering wheel. Unlock the wheel move it all the way up, remove plastic trim hole cover, insert finger into hole, press the little button (shifter unlock) while putting shifter into gear. Page 215 in the owners manual Brake-shift interlock.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION
Brake-shift interlock
This vehicle is equipped with a park/brake-shift interlock feature that
prevents the gearshift lever from being moved from P (Park) when the
ignition is in the ON position unless brake pedal is depressed.
If you cannot move the gearshift lever out of P (Park) with ignition in
the ON position and the brake pedal depressed, or when the ignition is
in the OFF position, it is possible that a fuse has blown or the vehicle’s
brakelamps are not operating properly. Refer to Fuses and relays in the
Roadside Emergencies chapter.
If the fuse is not blown, perform the following procedure:
1. Apply the parking brake, turn the ignition to OFF, then remove the
key.
2. Push the tilt steering lever down and tilt the steering column all the
way up.
3. Locate the round access plug on
the underside of the steering
column cover.
4. Remove the access plug using a flat-head screwdriver, then insert your
finger and pull the override button toward you. With the button pulled
toward you, apply the brake pedal and shift the transmission into N
(Neutral).
5. Reinstall the access plug cover, start the vehicle and release the
parking brake.

After 3 days of rain and 4 hours of TS. Looks like it's the auto climate controller. You can see the corrosion on the circuit board:(

The new used unit is in and all is right again. I swapped the face plate, since mine was in better shape. I don't think it was water intrusion. The radio head unit is right over the climate controller unit, shielding it. What may have fried the unit is remote starting the vehicle with the climate controls set on high full heat defrost mode. Unless it was just age, not sure. But.... case closed! Thanks Stamp!

I disagree & can only view the first pic when logged in. It looks as though the damage is located to a specific area as though water was dripping on it. In any case a mylar cover over the pcb would help to protect it.

I was thinking about covering it. There were no water marks on the case though? I'm going to have the windshield replaced. I may have spoke too soon...A/C clutch not kicking on:(
