hey thats mine. yeah i did that. i did a crappy job on them kind of. heres what you need to do. watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5eK5OnHfqA and buy everything it asks. and hes doing it on a rim only. so if you want to paint ur rims with the tires mask off every bit of the side tire. i didnt. bad idea. heres the pics 0815091935.jpg

i only taped around the rim. so the mist of the paint went all around the tires. not a bad thing. i got new tires anyways, but if u plan to keep urs mask them off very well.

o and im going to redo mine. the paint is starting to crack a little bit. just from me scratching them and what not. o and use that high heat paint. its the best. it sticks well and use light coats. sand with a wire cup brush its the easyest and then sand the edges. then primer 2 times, black 2-3 times, and clear 2 times. and theyll look like mine. either shiney or flat. depends on the color paint you get. post pics when you finish yours.

The problem with high heat paints is that they usually need, well, you guessed it -high heat- to properly cure.

There are quite a few rattle can paints out there that will give you ok results (duplicolor metalcast, etc) but depending how tough you are on the truck, you are probably going to have to re-do the job every year or so.
It's surprising how just a couple of minutes churning through some mud can blast that paint right off.

As with all paint jobs, prep is what makes the biggest difference in the final result.

You may not want to hear this, but the only way to really get a tough coating on those wheels, something that is going to stand up to scrubbing and day to day abuse, is to have them powder coated. It's really not that expensive, although you do have to remove the tires.

yeah thats very true. but the high heat paint stands up to the brake temperatures too. thats also why its used on headers and anything thats goin to next to anything hot. out of the 4 rims i did only 1 is really bad and its from me and a screw driver. and weights being removed and put back on cause no one can seem to balance my tires. theyre only 265s. what ever though. im going to redo mine and ill post pics of them when i do them. but also the prep is what took for ever to do. by my self just to sand them took about an hour each rim. then the drying of the paint took a while too. so its a good weekend project.

look for a adhesion promoter.... will help as well or even a self etching primer will help the paint stick better

well the only problem with that is the weights. so when u get your wheel re-weighted, which i recommend you do after you paint it cause it will throw it off a little, have them put the stick on weights in the inside. but if u do red paint it red then tape that off, then paint it black, it would look good.
