Hi guys, I have made couple other threads relating to this topic throughout the forum but since my truck is getting poor fuel economy I figured during the fix I'd try to get somewhat of a performance boost as well and I just a quick couple of newbie questions.

Keep in mind my Expy is a 2006 XLT 5.4L 4x4 that is bone stock (performance-wise).

1. I would like to get a K&N 57 CAI but I would like to run the CAI with an Airaid Throttle body spacer; is this possible to be ran that way without issues? If it is, would this give me significant enough improvements to be worth the trouble over running just the CAI?

2. With the CAI and TBS (or without the TBS, depends on first question answer) will the truck hold up and run fine with stock headers and OEM catalytic converter but with a Cat-back exhaust from Magnaflow? I want be sure that I'm not causing any issues to the OEM parts on the truck be running a CAI, TBS and cat-back.

3. Just throwing around an idea here but how difficult is it put headers on these motors? I know some of you have done it but they seem like they are way out of my reach and I have heard that the Gibson's are an absolute pain to get installed and they don't always match up to factory parts?

Thanks for the help guys and I know that there are a lot of different under the hood mods that I'm not talking about but this all I want to do for now, any help is greatly appreciated.

Intake:
K&N 57-2568 Air Intake, 57 Series FIPK

Spacer:
400-531 - AIRAID , Airaid Throttle Body Spacer

Cat-Back:
Performance Exhaust 15755

Headers (only a maybe):

The right foot mod is by far the more effective at improving gas mileage. I noticed no improvement with either the Magnaflow cat back or airaid intake tube(just the tube not the full CAI kit, keeps the factory airbox and filter). It may be because there is no gain or that the new found growl induced my to rev the truck more. I would guess the latter.

throttle body spacer is waste of money on our trucks unless u really mod out the engine completely...w/o rewriting the ecu/pcm program and upgrading the MAF sensor its equivalent to a paperweight for the truck...

So I should stick with just the CAI and then do a complete exhaust with stock headers?

yes...it will run fine with that setup...all I've done is CAI...cat-back exhaust...programmer...headers haven't proved to provide any performance in mpg's so I haven't done that...at least not shorty headers...then again I'm not for hp either...I believe those that have done the headers said the passenger side is the problem side...stock catalytic converters are fine but if u can get high flow converters since ur doing this work...why not? plus the exhaust...full exhaust system

Yeah that's the plan then: K&N CAI and magnaflow high flow cats and cat-back exhaust then programmer when I get the tires on and I'll check out that vendors tuning options. Thanks for the help as always 10k
