View attachment 2019I just did the "Gott Mod" to my 2000 Expo with the 5.4 Fleet Service Package. I am anxious to see if this helps fuel mileage and performance...have a K&N air filter in it...84,000 miles with running Shell V-power 93 octane all the time I was getting 15.5 on the highway at 75mph before the Mod....was thinking of running tubing down that front fender to the grill area and creating a ram air to see if this would help...any thoughts...this was a California truck and I now have it Michigan...should I have the computer reprogrammed or is there anything I can do to un-smog it?

Thanks Guys...this forum is great!

You're wasting your money on the premium fuel.
Your truck doesn't need it and it isn't helping anything.

You can put $4 to $5 PER TANK in your pocket by using regular fuel and not see any difference in performance.

You may be correct on the performance aspect...But I do notice a difference in fuel economy...my gas mileage is better per gallon with the V-power than regular gas....I have ran E85 also and only dropped one mile per gallon compared to 87 octane when used...

Well, to each his own.
Also, the 2000 Expedition was not Flex-Fuel, if you run E85, you are asking for trouble.

93 octane vs 87 octane

I figured it cost me an extra $9.00 on a fill up to use 93 Shell V-power which gains me 55 miles more per tank...I also make sure that I am getting pure gas and not 10% ethanol....I did run a few tanks of E-85 mixed with the 93 octane and nothing happened, no check engine light, no knocks...I just bought a Edge CS evolution Programmer and am anxious to see the improvements on shift and performance...Im drive easy and don't beat this thing....every 3k on full synthetic oil changes with K&N oil filters..

The effects of E85 ethanol won't be immediately apparent. It eats away and seals and even some metals. Ford had to make quite a few changes to the fuel system to make it suitable for use with E85.

Tony,
It was just one of those things were you had to try it and see if it worked..LOL..as I stated earlier I just bought that new Edge cs programmer and anxious to see how it works...basically more for towing and firming up shift points....but to see how much more muscle that 5.4 has....I bought this from California and was concerned that Ford programmed it so lean for the smog that this computer change might help...I really love my truck...I like those wheel flares on your truck where did you find those and were they costly?

The difference in the way the truck shifts is night and day. Eliminating all the sliping during shifts should also extend the life of the trans.

Those flares are just cheap ebay flares. I put together a post on them.

How about performance? Notice anything there? I did the Gotts mod and have a K&N air filter...was thinking of dropping the wheel housing and figuring a way to plum the air intake with PVC down to the front of the truck....on the police mustangs they actually had vent holes drilled in the bottom of the bumper cover to direct cool air from in front of vehicle..and working like a ram air effect...i just find it hard to believe it gets good air flow from inside that fender...thanks again for your info...
