Hi All.

I'm about a week in on ownership of a new Limited and for the life of me, I cannot get my phone (iPhone 10, in a rubber Otter Box case) to stay seated on the wireless charging pad. I set it down, and within two turns, it slips off. There is no lip at the bottom of the pad to hold it in place.

I'm suspicious that I may be missing a trim piece of some sort to keep it in place. Any info anyone can lend is appreciated!

Mine has a rubber piece with a lip at the bottom. And it can be taken out. I definitely think you are missing a piece. I can take a picture for you later if you need me to.

I'm DEFINITELY missing that. I take it it's a removable piece, which is why I don't have it. I hope my local dealer (who sucks, that I DIDN'T buy the vehicle from will order me one under warranty. Should make for an interesting conversation. LOL The dealer I bought it from is three and a half hours away.) Thanks!!!!!!

Our XLT had the same problem. I think it's poor design or I'm missing something.

Every little road imperfection and my wireless charging disconnects and gives an error message on the nav screen. I just plug the phone in with a USB cable now to avoid the "benefits" of wireless charging provided by Ford.

This isn't the first time someone with a "new to them" Expedition has been missing that piece. What in the world happens to them?

Mine was missing as well and I finally found the part. Here's a picture of the missing piece you can order from your local Ford Dealer. It's call a Pad

My ‘18XLT charger has the lip. I have a new iphone SE with no case. Always stays on my charger pad. The problem may be your Otter case

Resurrecting this thread.
My 2019 Platinum was missing the same piece. As a matter of fact it was missing all the rubber inserts, (cup holder, console, etc.) and the floor mats. It turned out the detail shop, who did a terrible detail job, never put all the pieces back in. They found all of them except the cellphone part number jl1z-78045g34-bb, that holds the cellphone up so it will charge. They ordered the piece for me and are shipping it to me. The part is available for around $15.00, or it may be found at a junkyard for cheap.

I ended up forcing Ford to send me one for free, as I had recently taken possession of the vehicle and was still in their no excuses return policy.
So, if one buys a used Expedition, be sure to check all the options, like mats, rubber inserts in the cup holders, consoles, etc., that came with the vehicle. You may be able to get them at the time of purchase, depending on the dealer and whether it is a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle.

This. Lots of people blame the charging pad for the frequent charge disconnects, but it's partially the newer iPhone lenses sticking out further, and then the case has an even bigger lip to protect the lens.

Case off, charges fine.

My Galaxy Ultra barely fits down there and it takes some work to get it in and out. It charges slooooooow and ends up really hot compared to my other wireless chargers. Not to mention that being all the way down in the hole makes it hard to get GPS satellites. Basically the built in wireless charging location is useless.

I find the charger to be a waste of money and space. Apparently, I have large hands that will not easily get into that tiny space to position the phone to charge. Maybe small dainty hands would work fine, but again, seems like the Ford Expeditions engineers are forgetting their customer base and trying to keep up with the Teslas.
