I hope to install in the next week. Lots going on at work lately.

Cool ! I think you should notice a "little" difference in the seat of your pants after the install.

I know who to call if I run into difficulties with my install :)

What headers did you go with?

Have you talked to anyone about the best headers to go with your rig? I think with all you've done to it, you might get a little more power out of it with long tube headers.

I would also be interested in this as I have not found anyone who sells long tubes for the expy. I have seen them for the ford trucks but not the expy.

I would love to do long tubes into high flow cats and then where it merges into 1 it needs a 2 - 2 1/2" into 1 - 3" y with 3" exhaust the rest of the way or have x pipe and keep it duals. I bet this set up would increase hp 20-30 on a stock 1st gen expy and more so on a blown one.

I'd check with some of the manufacturers. I don't think there is much if any difference between the F150 and Expedition, and if anything, I would think the expy would fit better due to the longer wheelbase. But I would have to crawl under and check some measurements to make sure.

In most cases long tube headers or shorty's you don't again alot of HP. I have installed on boosted mustangs one with stock and one with shorty's made 7HP more for $1500 not much of a gain. Long tube very high priced some times you will gain 20 or 30Hp in a boosted engine. Stock engines nether one with the money for more HP.

I have had good gains with long tubes (tuned). Maybe not so much for peak hp figures but much more power through out the range. Of course the combination of parts makes all the difference. They work better when there is more overlap in the cam. Shortys not so much. Long tubes can help scavange the exhaust, shortys at best reduce back pressure.

My thoughts.

I have check with a few and they basically said there would likely be clearance issues where the go over the frame? I would have to have a f150 and my expedition side by side to do a comparison. I guess the frames are slightly different. When checking under my expy it appears to have plent of room for long tubes.... other than between the starter and the body. Would be tight there.

I'm thinking about it. I've got almost 170k on mine and finish school next spring, so will have some money. . . A stroker would be awesome

Most of the time, you can buy a programmer and have someone make you a custom tune to incorporate all of your mods and make the most power for you.
