Does anyone know if the factory 22" Platinum wheels are clear plated? I assume that they are however not sure... I want to keep up on the finish as I had a Lincoln LS which had polished wheels which were awful to maintain... who's using what to keep their rolling stock looking new?

I've had mine for about a year and a half and nothing more than a wash and a coat of wax. I use an EZ Detail brush to clean the barrels and brake calipers.

Yes, they are clear-coated so avoid any harsh chemicals. Don't let brake dust sit on the wheels for months at a time as it can etch them. I wash mine about every 3 weeks when I wash my Expedition. I use car wash soap (Meguiar's Gold Class Shampoo) and water with a microfiber wheel brush to reach inside the wheel as this is where most of the brake dust accumulates. Best way to keep them looking new is just to periodically clean them.

Thank you both for the information. I'll stay away from the spray on wheel cleaners and handle the brake dust with the detail brush.

I’ve used code red from surf city garage and something from eagle one I think it was. Code red worked the best. Hit em with that, dry em off, coat of wax, and some dressing on the tires. 48F6B853-EEB2-47FF-A0E6-1C3EA0F9A330.png

Nice to see there are people who keep their trucks clean;), mine usually has a nice coat of dirt or dust. My rims are usually dirt and brake dust covered but somehow always clean up good i just wash the rims with my car brush and soap them up and rinse em....repeat next wash:buffer:.

Gonna be trying out a fallout iron remover here soon. Gtechnic w6 iron remover for paint and wheels. I can see some iron spots on my white paint that are bothering me. Looks like it works very well at iron removal

I don't like driving a dirty vehicle, so mine is always clean.

Ok...so 1800 miles in and my wife has managed to gouge both front wheels... Can I hit these with wheel polish to buff out? Needless to say when I walked outside this morning and walked past the truck and saw this... lets just say my day is probably ruined lol

I’m bummed because I just washed my truck on the first decent day we’ve had in a while up here in Ann Arbor and I noticed my wheels which we prefect before winter started already have tiny areas where the clear coat is compromised. Winters are so so tough on rims. If I didn’t live in a Bus, I’d have a set of junk rims for the winter. Maybe I should plastidip them every fall with a nice thick coating....
