replaced my 2010 navigator 3 valve 5.4 with an aluminum big bore 5.4 block now at 352 cubic inches better airflow from head porting its a big difference. but still the 5.4 engine always lack bore size and decent airflow.
hey its a better engine than the 5.0 is I cant argue with that.

247k on my 1998 EB but that one just sits behind my shop

Wow did you have to sleeve the block

yes its an aluminum block I bought from MMR. the top end is factory. ported head and factory camshafts. short tube headers and a bigger TB stock injectors a tune was added by my tuner and a CAI.

2006 exp

Bought used replaced plugs, 4had been changed in past, so called mechanic could not get the other 4 out, I had no prob while following fords 3 valve tsb.

Trans cooler lines rusted thru at bottom of radiator where they were held together by plastic clip. They rusted under the clip, rest of lines were fine. Electrolysis?

Fighting with L f half shaft not unlocking.

Gas mileage? Don't need no steenkin gas mileage, 14mpg on a bad day, 15 on a good one.

the bubbling of the paint its all over the lip of the hood and the tail gate and its only on those two areas hummm? wonder who else has this problem???


Everyone.... For all years gen 2. A mess. And Ford does nothing unless sued in small claims court. Imagine 6-10 years from now all those aluminum pickup trucks with galvanic corrosion all over the place.

Just had 100k service at dealer, $$$$.

Bought just under a year ago. Great vehicle for my needs.

2000 xlt 5.4 4x4, just went over 200,000 miles, original motor, trans, transfer case nothing major, just a couple popped plugs, shooting for 300k.

2001 XLT 5.4 4x4

199,500 miles- changed spark plugs at 100K big mistake, had to time sert cyl 8 7 & 6. about 3 months apart. Had the local shop retorque remaining spark plugs and no issues for last 99K miles. Will not mess with sparkplugs unless check engine light comes on. Running boards are rusting out. Oil pressure gauge is bouncing and oil pressure light blinks so going to replace the oil pressure sensor next oil change. Bought brand new and love my Epxy!

Almost to 169,000!

My 2007 EL 4x4 Limited got to about 168,000 and the engine started "tapping." Took it in and the dealership said the engine needed to be replaced. Didn't have any problems before that. Shame to loose such a nice condition car otherwise, but I just bought a 2015 EL Platinum 4x4 and it feels great with one exception (see trackback link in this post for details: http://www.expeditionforum.com/f50/new-member-new-expy-rust-question-26693/)
