So last night my Expy decides it didn't like the spark plugs and puked one up.!!! I'm wondering is Ford doing anything about this problem?? If not why?
I know I've read other people having this problem ...so why is it not being recalled? Mines a 2002 with a 5.4L 154000 KMs (95000 miles) So why now????Stupid truck dies on me when its -16C (5F) and dam tow truck took 2hrs to get there!!!!! Dam cold by the time he got there!! So is it time to switch to the other side (GM) or should I stick it out?!? I've owned nothing but Fords ...but this is a piss off knowing Ford knows there's a problem!! and when are the other plugs going to pop?? Lastly what's the cost and time to fix this ? Should I fix all 8 now .or .build another motor or just sell it and get a Somthing else?? Thanks for letting me vent and for any answers to my questions!!!

No recall, but the heads were redesigned with more threads and steel inserts, may have been when the 3 valve 5.4 came out, get it heli coiled and roll on, a recall is only done when there is a "safety" issue. Its is a common problem, but every make has some common issue, if you go gm or dodge you will just be replacing transmissions or something else. JMHO

the only dodge you should get is a cummings. haha but this is common. if it happens once then get it fixed. if it happens a second time on the same plug then your kind of screwed.

yeah I would get it fixed and press on.... basically take your poison... expy and F150 either puke the plug or the plug snaps in half.... dodge you'll be replacing the tranny and chevy you'll be rusting out bad if you drive in the wonderful snow and ice...

thats why a cummins needs an alison tranny! it would be bulletproff! but with the plugs just get it changed and if it does it again then new heads or new expo.

Just drop on a set of Trick Flow heads and be done with it. They are aluminum heads and have much better threads in them ( at least some engineer looked at the importance of this ) not only that they flow alot better as well.
