Like many of us, when I ordered my 22 Expy Limited SPP, it had Active Park Assist, Rear Window auto-open/close, and Rear Liftgate kick to open as options that Ford then force-deleted during the build.

Has anyone tried to get these options added back into their Expy through a dealership now that chip supplies are back up? I’m wondering if it’s something a dealership service Dept would even be capable of doing?

I would skip the tailgate kick to open. It opened accidentally too many times and then did not work properly most of the time when i kicked. I disconnected the antenna and haven't had an issue since. Genesis open when you are in the proximity of the back of the vehicle works far better.

I've had my Expedition for 4 months now and I've been whacked in the head by the liftgate door 3 times. I would not pine for the missing kick to open.

As of last summer this was not possible and I do not expect things have changed. I had a 2022 Platinum on order that I ended up walking away from once she arrived at dealer. In addition to the missing chip or it could possibly any other components of that feature where never put in since it was "removed", your Expy does not have the software installed to run the missing features. Since to my understanding the Ford dealers can download your modules and reuploaded if needed for repair purposes, I often wondered why it couldn't add the missing program module but there can be any number of reasons they aren't doing it. Still short on parts, too much left off the vehicle once the removal is down, may be proprietary issues they don't want happening outside the plant hard to really say. You can go to the link below and put in your vin it will show all the modules populated on your car.

Which module needs to have been installed for Active Park Assist to work?

In truth, these deleted options weren’t deal-breakers for me or I would’ve cancelled my order when i saw them appear online during the build wait. But it did piss me off that they force-deleted anything without telling me, I just noticed it online looking at my build status.

The kick-to-open option may have come in handy a couple times over the year I’ve had the truck, but at least without it I’ve had zero accidental openings or the other issues meantioned, and I can live without it.

It’s the park-assist that my wife REALLY wanted. I’d probably never use it, but she went from a small sports car to the Expy, so parking kinda freaks her out.

My wife just got a 2022 Expedition that had Active Park Assist deleted. I want to add it on for her. Did you ever find a way to do it? Ours does already have the 360 degree camera option installed.

It is my understanding that Ford removed features where chips were in shortage. And if the chips were not available, the feature was disabled. I don't know if the chips are plugins.
Maybe your dealer can tell you if the features are available as an upgrade. Or I've read where you can change the entire module.

Thanks. Do you know which module has the potential to control Active Park Assist?

I switched off the kick-to-open tailgate feature the 2nd or 3rd time it opened while I was futzing with my trailer hitch. VERY annoying. I forget where the setting was, but on my 2019 Limited Stealth, its on a menu somewhere.

If the car was supplied without the feature, I'd imagine that they leave out the kick sensors and the 'Hands Free Liftgate Actuation Module' 151-60, which talks over a LIN bus to the BCM (Body Control Module). The BCM probably has to be coded to enable the feature, too.

Do you know which module controls the park assist? I'm guessing there is a "box" that I need to replace with different internals to support it. I already have 360 degree cameras and the botton on the console. Anything else that would be needed besides activation with Forscan?

I only have a 2019 Ford Expedition/Lincoln Navigator wiring diagram. massive book.

what I said earlier...
it shows all the sensors are connected to the BCM, but the BCM talks LIN to a 'Hands Free Liftgate Actuation Module', which is located in the middle of the left side rear bumper. This is separate from the Liftgate/Trunk Module (LTM) which you have on all cars. The LTM seems to be on the driver side of the trunk, just forward of the left tail light and behind the side panel..

I'm asking about the Active Park Assist though (and what this thread is about). I'm referring to the function where the vehicle will park itself (parallel or backing in).

I just don’t get why you want to add it? It’s a useless product. So few people used it in the real world that they have permanently deleted it from the 2024+ models.
