How much of a pain was the tranny? I switched to 5w30 synthetic the other day as well. Plan on doing the others too. Let us know how you mount the JLT can cause I thought I read here somewhere it won't mount where the F150 has it without mod. I want to add the JLT too and was thinking of just shortening the bracket. CRC cleaner will be later this week.
Jlt oil separator should fit fine. For a short while they changed the mounting bracket from the fire wall to the battery box. Jlt found out right away the new bracket dosen't work on the Expedition's. So as long as you specify when you order it from them, it should come with the firewall bracket. When I ordered mine it came with the battery box bracket, which was way to tall. One quick call and jlt sent the other bracket.

If you guys are on the fence about the oil separators, guys at JLT are extremely professional and they now what they are doing. I live 15 minutes from them and have been to the shop several times.

I was just on s&b's website the other day and they have a pn for the expedition, and all of the testing protocol has been released, but it did still say "coming soon."

But actually i just now checked again and it is listed for sale! #75-5130 is the pn for 15-17 expeditions.

And youre probably right about the tune in regards with a "mileage tune."

Other cars ive turned up over the years actually still got better mileage in higher power, as long as you just dont drive like a maniac. So yeah i guess if there are say...3 levels of power I would probably just keep it in "tow" all the time and not "race."
S&b intake now available. $300... pretty steep

Not sure what benefit that intake has. The OE intake is already "cold air" out of the wheel well. Looks good, though.

They replace the air tube that drops into the wheel well area with a 23% larger on. Other than that maybe (big maybe) 10 hp

I have a k&n CAI for sound and looks. Coupled with my tune, I’m at least getting optimized airflow from it now. Without a tune, useless other than for sound bc the hp “gain” is all the way up at 5000rpm

10hp on a 365hp engine is *** Wow! *** 3% gain. ;) I'm happy with the lack of engine sounds on the Expedition. On my S2000, though, induction and exhaust sounds are part of the "power" experience.

-- Chuck
I hear ya! I went with aftermarket since the custom tuner I have can tube for increased airflow efficiency to maximize the mod

299 isnt bad compared to others. And I may do it but with the understanding that im going to do a tuner as well.

AFE is $550 and they claim 32hp.

S&B is quality stuff.
Looks like the dry filter model is out of stock but the oiled filter (not for me) is available.
They are airflow tests listed but no dyno tests.

AFE is way over priced. For half that price I got 100 hp and 100tq to the wheels with a custom tune. S&B, not much over stock setup other than larger “air tube inlet”

I contacted S&B and they said they did not do power tests and cannonmy guess 3-5% increase in power based off 350hp

The AFE is not a straight bolt on. You need to adapt the sensor. I have it. Waiting for a warm day to install and do the modifications needed. You can find it FAR cheaper than $550. Think I paid less than $400 for the dry filter version.

True, but it takes what all of 8 seconds to grind that tab/section of the sensor off?

Yes, but worth mentioning, since people that read will see our vehicles are not mentioned in the applications.

How do you all feel about the smaller dual filters and pipes compared to a larger filter and larger pipes for intakes?

I feel for Max airflow you would want as little restriction as possible but a lot of f150 guys like the two filter setup from AFE

Flow is Flow. AFE’s setup is proven on the Dyno and Flow Bench. Two smaller generally gives more surface area vs one big in the same space. It is like 2 Smaller monitors vs one Big.

I agree that flow is flow but air density is also a thing.

Dynos do not tell the whole truth because most of the time people dyno they leave the hood open. When you do this you give the intake WAAAY more cool air than it would normally get in real world conditions.

With an intake that is sealed like the s&b you get repeatable, real world results. For this reason I only like sealed intakes. Banks and S&B are the only two brands that come to mind that do it like this.
