Hey every1 im new to the forum so just wanted to start out by saying hi to every1. I was also wondering if most people prefer 20" wheels or 22" wheels on expeditions. Considering the price differences.

I personally like the 24 inch wheels. They fill up the wheel well nicely.

However, the tires for 24 inch wheels run close to $500 each (OUCH).

Welcome to the Forum. Big wheels are definately in. I would however have to say that personally, I think that the more rubber between your $3000 wheels and potholes, speed bumps, etc... the better. Also, consider things like availability of a replacement tire if you get a flat. 20" tires are getting pretty common but I think it might be tough to get a 22" 23" 24" tire on short notice. I'm not a tire guy, but even finding a stock 265/70/17 was tough when the Expeditions were first out.

The other issue with bigger wheels that not many people talk about is rotational mass. Bigger rims = heavier rims. When you get 5-10 extra lbs of weight spinning like on a big rim, there are factors to think about. I'd recommend a nice big set of new brakes. You will also most likely see a reduction in acceleration performance, though it wont be massive. Good luck.

I too think that tall rims are not the way to go. I want tall tires (in my case, as tall as I can get on a stock vehicle).

Its a 4x4, meant to go where others don't, without worrying about dinging, scraping, or bending rims that cost more than the average mortgage payment.

I want to scoff at snow, mud, sand, off road trails, and consider small imports as nothing more than speedbumps. :D

One does not drive an Exby, and swerve to avoid the puddle  One speeds up, and relishes the fact that you can go where other mere mortals cannot!!

20's, the 24's I've ridden on in my friend's Tahoe are harsh. They are the best compromise in ride and looks.
