programming keyless fobs?

OK, I did the key in the ignition, turned on/off 7 times in 10 seconds and the locks lock/unlock automatically. I push the button on the remote and I get nothing! I have the original that came with my truck and two additional ones I bought. None of them work... All the batteries are good in them, but cant get it to work, any ideas?

I thought it was 8 times ???

Just got the wife a pink key fob off amazon and i'm pretty sure instructions said eight then leave in run position.
