Question for all the expy guys out there

I have a 2000 eddie bauer 4x4 it has the awd system in it and I dont like it . Is there any way to make a swap with a F150 and make it 2wd when I want .I like to play like everyone else and the auto lock kind of prevents that .

You can do what is call the "Brown Wire Mod" to keep it in 2wd. If you do a search on this site you will find it. I did it and have a switch to diable and enable the AWD. The 4LO and 4HI still works when selected.

Mine has 2wd Awd 4hi 4low but then again mine is an 08 lol but this got me thinking because i want a first gen expy to build as a rock crawler and awd will be completely worthless to me.

we got it to slide but it wont burn out , damn thing... that's ok we are gonna do the mod to have the 2wd switch to enable it

After taking it out today n really playing dont need the 2wd option , she was slipping, sliding, burning out , haulin ass ... very impressed actually , handled alot better then i thought in the awd mode.. so im good

Thanks everyone I have cut the brown wire and it is everything that I could expect out of it.Unbelievale that i got 18.6 mpg on the way to Texas in the tank but it is nice burn out on command !!! I love my truck.
