Fixing to buy a new to me 2023 Expedition XLT. It currently has Michelin tires and 18" wheels. If I changed to 20s due to wanting black wheels and it looks like more of a selection in the 20s vs 18s is there anything needed? Or will 20s be fine? Any down side to changing?

Also any black/powder coasted wheels you recommend for a 2023 expedition?

My 2023 (bought new) came with 20's on it and Toyo Open Country H/T 275/55R20's on it. I like them and have had no issues - 37K miles on them.

What Wheels do you have? Does anyone know if 2024 F150 20's work for a 2023 Expedition? Are they interchangeable?

I have an earlier expedition and I fitted 20” F150 wheels, the only issue I had is that on the rear wheels (both sides) the half shafts are a bit longer on the expedition so the threaded end of the half shafts sticks out a bit further and it fouled with the plastic cap that goes in the middle of the wheel. I took an angle grinder and just cut off some of the excess threaded section and everything fitted perfectly. It seems to be a well known issue for anyone fitting F150 wheels to an expedition, the alternative is to not cut the end of the half shaft and don’t use the little plastic cap that goes in the middle of the wheel, but I thought that looked nasty!!

All 4th gens should be interchangeable. Just make sure the offset is the same as well as height and width of the tire. You can use this calculator to compare and determine what tire size you will need for a 20" upgrade. Tire Size Calculator

It’s showing 275 55 20 would be an alternate but hard to find black oem cords for that

I see a ton of 275 60 20 f150 pull offs…. Would those not work they are both 6 bolt pattern just the middle # is 55 vs 60

Late-model F150 wheels will fit a late-model Expedition. The issue is that the axle shaft on the Expedition is so long it pokes through the center hole on the wheel thus prohibiting installation of the center cap. I've seen people mention that you can cut off the excess axle shaft.

I just bought these 20’s from what appears to be a very new F150. I had Discount tire fit one up last week when I was getting snow tires mounted on my 18’s and they said there was no interference with half shafts. Great news, but I anticipated there would be interference and drilled a hole in the center cap before hand.

My 2024 Ford Expedition XLT came with the same tires (Toyo Open Country H/T 275/55R20). Like you, I am pleased with the ride and handling. When the time comes to replace them, I'd be interested to see what other folks are doing? i.e. Do most stay with the Toyo's or switch to another brand? I've always run Michelins on my Expeditions and Explorers.

I just mounted a set of 18-in wheels from an F-150. They look like Tremor wheels with a machined face. The half shafts did poke through the center cap hole, but only by 3mm. The solution was posted here on some thread and it works perfect. Take a carpet knife and run it around the joint of the shiny face and the plastic hub of the center cap. It’s only glued on and parts easily. Then lay 3M double face tape where the glue is / was. Lay 3-layers of the tape on top of each other and then press the cap on. Run a bead of silicon RTV around the small gap around the perimeter of the center cap that’s arose from the 3mm build up of tape. Punch on the center cap. The fix is so subtle you never notice it.

I forgot to mention you have to drill a 28mm hole in the center of the plastic hub of the center cap first.

I just pulled those off in favor of 18's from a 24 Timberline. If you're anywhere the Pacific Northwest the 20's are more than available. I would totally swap for another set of 18's. Winter and summer sets ya know!

I took a dremel and removed some of the plastic out of the cap and it worked. However the rear passenger side was a little longer than driver rear, needed to dremel the bottom nubs down to increase its insertion length th the passenger side, it perfect but close, driver side was perfect. I’d imagine a 3d printer could make one to be able to hollow out a tough more keeping the oem insertion depth the same.

Look at my first post for solution to the caps.
