No welding done. Did not have one handy, besides. The dozen or more self tapping sheetmteal screws to the inner fenders did the job fine. The 2 lower rad bracket to frame bolts held it secure in place. Thats where the bulk of the strength securing it is.I felt it was good enough this way, especially for a 13 year old SUV.
