I have a 2013 Expedition, I know there is an issue with the paint/metal on the rear liftgate. I have a spot the size of a dime starting, though it is raised pretty well now. My question:
If the vehicle is still under bumper to bumper is Ford fixing it? What should the proper fix be?
I used to live on gravel roads and the black paint got beat to heck on my running boards and Ford denied the claim saying it was abnormal use and/or abuse. I agree, I hated living on gravel roads, but that's what we had in IA.

I suggest calling and asking because it is a known problem but I don't know what years it affects but even still it could be a defect. If the local dealer says it isn't covered I recommend calling Ford customer service or someone higher up the chain.

Good morning caylerman,

Were you able to discuss this with your Ford Dealer? Send me some details, including vehicle mileage; I'll look into this.

Open your liftgate and look around the seam along the edges as well. I had a ton of bubbling in that area, as well as 3 big bubbles on the liftgate itself. Ford should cover a repaint for your liftgate, but it's debatable if it will stop any bubbling in the future.
