I replaced the front heater core and it works great! However now the rear which worked before doesn't? I have one mystery plug that I can't find a home for under the passenger side kick panel (purple w/pink and Green w/yellow)
Could this be my issue and where does it go in that case?
Thanks for your help!

If you can't find a plug for it then it isn't your problem. You may have missed one set of plugs by the steering column.

I looked at all the ac/heater wiring prints for that connector and doesn't appear to have anything to do with the ac/heater circuits

when you replaced the front heater core did you happen to disconnect connectors at the right side kick panel?

Most of the connectors were on the rt side(passenger) Could this plug be for an option that I don't have on my Expy XLT ?

possible I normally advise people to mark both ends of connectors when they are removing. as example 1-1, 2-2, 3-3 etc and to also make a list so they know just how many were un-plugged and then when they reconnect they have a check list to make sure all were reconnected

do you have manual or auto controls I assume you have manual being its a XLT

Rear heater blowing cold and colder

Update on this 2001 expedition issue 4.6 liter. The rear heater is blowing cold and colder! Recently replace front core and thought I may have crossed some heater hoses or wires. I have ruled this out because the hoses going to rear core are hot but coming off core only luke warm? I checked blend door and seems to be working correctly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

sounds like the core is blocked turn off the blower to the rear core let the engine get to temp then place you hand over one of the outlets for the rear and turn the blower on I would think you should feel some warm air at first and then if it gets colder you most likely have a blocked core

Rear AC always on so I can't get any heat!

I have flushed system replaced T stat and new coolant. Installed new rear heater core and it gets hot on one side but the AC is stuck on so its not hot. I manually closed the evap. door but the ac is still cooling the box so the heat is not working. The AC should be off when the heat is on correct? Please give me some help this is just crazy.

make sure that these controls are set properly

Auxiliary A/C-heater controls (if equipped)
Depending on your equipment package, your vehicle may be equipped
with auxiliary A/C-heater controls. The auxiliary A/C-heater feature
provides increased capacity to quickly heat or cool the vehicle. Besides
the driver’s control panel for the front seat occupants, the second row
auxiliary A/C-heater controls allow the rear passengers to control the
temperature in the rear of the vehicle through a second control panel
above the second row, or in the floor console.
If your vehicle is equipped with
auxiliary A/C controls, they may be
located in the floor console,
or located in the overhead console.
