Rearend Rumble

I have a 99 expy. It sat in water for about an hour one night waiting to get pulled out. I changed the fluid in the rearend (thiniking I had water in it. It didnt) when I start off & i'm turning it feels like the rearend is wanting to slip. Do I need to change the fluild again? Any suggestions?

Did you use a synthetic gear oil? If not did you add the little bottle of limited slip additive? I have found that sometimes if you run a regular gear oil you need to add two bottles of the additive, but if you run synthetic you do not need to put in anything else. The synthetic is a lot more expensive (about $60 for enough Royal Purple ) but well worth the money, for me I could notice the difference when coasting and also the rear-end temps stay cooler when towing.

I used one tube of the limited slip additive. With the regular gear oil. I used 80w-140. Its a little bit heavier than what it called for in the synthetic. I found some syn. for $7. a bottle. So i guess I will drain it & fill it up again. Also the ABS light is on. I disconnected the plug blew it out real good & cleaned it, but its still on. I couldnt figure out how to get it out of the rearend. I guess I'm a tard or something b/c it's usually pretty simple to do things like that. Is there a trick to it? So I can replace it. Thanks for the help.

check your breather tube. if its still attached. if not then tape it back on. idk how to fix that. when mine comes off my rear end feels weird.

so drtj, did you ever get that rumble feeling to go away? i changed my fluid about a month back (had water in it) and i still have the chattering in the rear end. at least it feels that way. wondering if maybe i change the fluid in the front diff it might fix the problem.

that could be something too. the front diff needs to be changed. since you have awd. and even with 2wd the diff is still spinning. just no power.
