Recommendations on Brake rotors

I am replacing the brakes on the 2003 2wd beast and would like to know if anyone has found some good prices on good rotors and pads. Thanks for the assist!

I used these and they've been very good, and dust free. But any of them with ceramic pads should serve you well. The Gen 2 Expies have very good brakes (large), so they're not too hard on the rotors.

i don't recall, but they were listed as the most popular ones bought. they have more expensive ones, cross drilled/slotted etc, but just kept it basic. thanks.

I really like RockAuto, both from a price point and quick service. The only issue with rotors is that Rock charges actual shipping on parts, and with the weight of rotors, it is expensive. 65 lbs. is about the weight of a pair for the Exp.

Auto Zone currently has a 20% discount on purchases of $125 or more, with free home shipping. I just purchased a pair of Brembo front rotors from AZ for $51 ea. plus tax, free shipping. Ceramic pads were $36. I did a lot of price checking before I made the purchase and this was the best deal available that I found. Other rotor options from AZ were in the mid $40's. I only chose the Brembo's from prior good experience with their products. Auto Zone had several options from various suppliers.

I know I got mine done locally and they are 4 mths old and have been squealing since I got them. Rotors and pads. I will be doing them on my own from now on

That's great mileage on your vehicles. Way to go. I'll bet you keep up on the maintenance.

I simply went to Advance Auto, bought ceramic pads & the rotors that would work with them (need to be harder I think) ... I opted for the higher priced (gold). Nice thing was they came with lifetime guarantee - so years later when worn out ... all I had to do was take them back with the original receipt and both pads and rotors were replaced no charge, no questions asked. So I got two sets for the price of one. Glad I dealt locally so I could take them back easily and kept the receipt. I made sure I greased the pins and ground the pads tabs where needed so they would slide easily in the caliper ... and made sure I didn't ding the rubber boots when changing.

I say absolutely yes, they wear at different rates. Replace whatever is worn out, before its TOO worn. Especially pads, don't think its good to let them run all the way down - I replace them at 3/4 worn ... better for caliper piston. I even go a little farther than some and will only replace pads if rotors still good. I think some people feel you need to do both pads & rotor at same time. Its also smart to engage your parking brake all year long and not once every few years.

First, My old E150 used to EAT rotor. If they lasted more than 2 years without warping I was doing good. Then I switched to Raybestos Advance Technology rotors. The last ones I bought, one was made in USA and the other Canada. I have had them on for over 5 years now.

They are sold by RockAuto but they are typically also sold by Amazon. Amazon may be a few dollars more, but if you are buying 2 rotors, that is usually enough to get free shipping even without Prime.
