Bought my first, a '99 in 2000 with 16K on it. It lasted till 2013 but the frame rusted out. Still ran strong with 232K miles so it was a no brainer of what to replace it with. I got a 2003 last Monday & picked it up Friday. Nice EB with a lot of miles but it very nice condition. Engine and trans are silky smooth but it has a couple of electrical glitches(remote mirrors switch, steering wheel switches, Drivers seat heater) to sort so I'll be hare asking in the next few weeks.

I joined instead of lurking because of all the talent I saw on this forum....most are not so loaded with smart people.

You should get a copy of the Ford service manual on DVD. Includes factory wiring diagrams plus much more

Thanks for the welcome guys. Sweet ain't she 6K? When I initially drive the truck, it was missing on one cylinder and very down on power. It threw a code as soon as I turned it around at the dealer. He watched as I ran back to my car, got my code reader and pulled up a #3 misfire. Most of us know that would be caused by an old coil-over-plug but the dealer didn't necessarily know so I kept that knowledge for negotiation. As I drove it, it was obviously way down on power. He tried to attribute it to the plug but I told him this was way beyond just one plug.....another thing save for negotiation.

The engine was smoke free and ran well, abet low on power due to the misfire and dirty air filter I knew was residing in the housing. When we got back to the dealer we made a deal that worked for me and once I got the truck home on Friday, after he did a few things listed in the contract rider, I detailed it so I could learn the differences between my old 99 and this one. I should add that they changed the oil, installed a new air filter and replaced the COP and the engine runs nice, smooth and makes normal, good power now! Just for S & G's, I reset the mileage before driving the 50 miles home from Alexandria Va and it returned 18.2 overall. Not bad considering how dirty everything is. It got 20 gallons of 92 octane, a can of Seafoam, 2 bottles of methanol(dollar store system cleaner) & six ounces of Lucas intake treatment.....by the time this tank is down, it would be a bit cleaner<LOL> and no, it won't hurt anything.....the power loss caused by all the additives isn't even measurable by the "butt dyno". Often, I'll put a couple ounces of 25% nitromethane(from radio controlled cars & planes) in an old engine to clean it out but I wants to go this route first and see how it does. I pulled the TB boot and it's filthy behind the plate so I sprayed it down with cleaner but 100K plus miles worth of crap isn't budging too easily!

Very nice truck but the doors are a little loose...almost like kids were slamming them everyday and the trim, including the massive center console is also a little loose so I"m going to have to go around and see what can be tightened up. The frame & chassis is tight though and in excellent shape so my outlook for a long life for it is good.

I bought this for my daughter to drive once she gets her license so it's not going to be driven 100K but does need to be reliable.

Already got the manual Rox but thank for reminding me!
