Considering something that is Severe Snow Service Rated such as Pirelli scorpion all terrain plus. The Michelin’s are terrible especially stopping in snow and the high center of gravity of the vehicle isn’t helping when cornering. We have winters on all other vehicles but just not worth the hassle to do it for the Expedition.
i can second the scorpions, really work on snow and ice roads

I'm about to put on a set of Yokohama Geolandar AT G015 tires on mine, just waiting for my April 19th appointment.

They should be a good compromise of quiet ride and dirt road, trail head and light snow performance for the shoulder seasons as i have a set of 275/70R18 Duratracs on separate wheels for the winter.

Do you run those 275/70r18s on a stock Expy? That's what I'm looking to do on my FX4, in a Cooper AT3, but hesitant as it's just stock.
