Greeting folks,

I need advice on how to replace either the front wiper motor and/ or wiper transmission on my 06 Expedition. I took an operational motor and transmission from a parts car I own but unfortunately had real problems getting the assembly out and resorted to some sawsall work to remove the parts, I am hoping I can avoid sawsall work for the replacement in my drivable Expedition! The Hayes manual really was no help. The symptoms are the following. When the wipers are engaged they both move to the vertical position and then stop with the motor trying to move them with no success. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I tried to remove the entire assemble in one piece as I could not see how taking it apart would help and I couldn't roll the assembly back to remove the motor anyway.

Thanks, Keith

get rid of the Haynes manual and get yourself a DVD copy of the FORD workshop manual The Haynes manual may have some good information in it but its best use is for starting fires.

The FORD manual is specific to model and year

Thanks for the reply, My biggest problem is that I can't figure out how to get the old assembly out of car and install the new (used) assembly. Perhaps it needs to be disassembled in some manner but I have not figured out what would make it easier to remove the necessary parts. The Hayes manual (and I agree...not a good manual) tells how to get into the compartment where the assemble is housed but not how to take it out....I tried rolling pulling turning and stopping the wipers in different positions but nothing made it come out. Because it was a parts car I decided to sawsall the working assembly out of the compartment by basically cutting the cross members out and bending back not something I prefer to do on the one I am driving....yet.
