Finally some output pics. Took long enough, but I discovered that my FORScan changes that “seemed” to work actually didn’t, and I was fighting through intermittent issues of them not coming on or flickering nonstop. In the end, I built a relay harness out of stuff I had lying around, and that seems to have rectified the issue permanently.
These shots are at 25 feet with my phone on the steering wheel. Width is pretty good, orientation of the projectors is a little off. There is an ever so slight cant present, which is clearly evident in the right side cutoff and the slight dip in the light output between the hotspots. Since I won’t have time to be without my headlights for the next two months, it’s a situation I’ll probably end up dealing with.

If anyone has taken the headlight assembly let me know how you took them apart and reassembled them. I am assuming you needed to heat the headlight assembly up to take apart but what do you use to reseal them

gixer, did you use an F-150 retro kit from theretrofitsource.com? I'm super interested in doing something similar to your setup.

I have an 07 and none of the f150 retro quick kits work for mine as it didn't come factory with projectors. Mine is just a universal mini h1 7.0 retrofit kit.

For those of you curious about lighting up that strip, if you pull the rubber cover off the low-beam bulb side, you can look down and to the left of it through the hole and see the gap where that amber strip is.
Wouldn’t be hard to get a flexible LED strip and slide it in there. Plus the LED parking light is right there as well, so I’d think with some creativity, you could connect your LED strip into the leads off that so it comes on with them and no external wiring needed.

I upgraded these just today to a D2S Morimoto 5500K bulb and 50-watt ballast I stole from my old F-150 retrofits since no one will buy them. I was surprised the D2S bulb fit exactly into the D3S bulb retainer, but I’m thrilled because it’s time for some Nightbreakers.

It’s the Rustoleum Peel Coat in Graphite. It has held up okay, it’s been on way too long, and it has some chips and scratches where the chrome is shining through.

Ahhh ok so its basically plastidip. I was considering having it Rhinolined to match the bullbar that's going on this year.

New retrofit for me really soon. Waiting on 1 more item and we start building.

Lexus RX350/ tuned
Osram CBB d2s bulbs
Fresh black housings/ just gotta paint the reflector bucket.

The output completely destroys my Mh1 and can't wait to get them in

The Lexus projectors with clear lenses are some of the best in existence from what I’ve heard over on my Land Cruiser/Lexus forum. The photos show that the output is so stinking amazing that most of the guys who go this route don’t ever need high beams. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Do you have a part number for those RX350 projectors?

Ouch that’s harsh.

Sorry. That honestly came out wrong. I like to see guys experiment with really high end projectors and lenses and HID lamps because the output from what I’ve observed is absolutely stunning while maintaining a safe cutoff. The lenses on our stock projectors aren’t clear for one, and the projectors themselves aren’t optically Amazing in my opinion when you compare them to a Lexus LX570 projector etc. I should have rephrased that cause I truly didn’t have anyone in mind when I typed that. Thanks for catching that...

Nice to have a couple of guys who actually are serious about quality high end light output and are willing to do it properly.

Gotta have good lighting man! The RX350 can not be beat once it's tuned correctly. Needs to have a clear lens spaced correctly and secondary shield cut down. I'm also using Hella gen 3 ballasts out of an Audi so they have a max of 6 seconds to warm up.

I'll keep the forum updated as I move along with it.

I don't have a part number but a 2010+ lexus RX350 with hid (AFS or non AFS) is what your looking for. The AFS model is easier with a afs to non afs bracket but its not absolutely necessary.

You can also purchase these from lightwerkz.net. the do offer tuning (for a fee) because it can be tough to get right. I only recommended lightwerkz for the RX350 because they have a stock pile of the best lenses to use. The other retrofit shops have lenses that will work but not as well.

Quick mockup I did tonight. The projector still needs to be pushed back an inch or so, gotta trim the rear of the reflector more to get the projector bowl to sink in, reflector needs to be painted but I think it'll look pretty good
