Road force balanced tires

Has anyone ever had their tires road force balanced?

I have a high speed vibration that I first noticed after getting my new tires installed this past summer. This also happened to be right before I went on a trip so not completely convinced its the tires. Typically under 70 around town. As soon as I get to about 75+ mph it starts vibrating and gets worse as speed increases. I have had the tires rebalanced on your typical balancer but it was mentioned that a road force balancer might be the best option.

So just curious if anyone has done this and if so their results. I may do it regardless just to eliminate the tires from the equation before moving on to the drivetrain. Engine rpm's and load have no effect, purely vehicle speed related.

Made appt. to have it done tomorrow as it is pretty inexpensive. Will post results... Got my fingers crossed.

I switched to road force balance several years back on my Expeditions. I'm convinced it's the only way to go on the 4x4 suv's today. Virtually eliminates tire/wheel vibration.

I was told its more of an issue with large truck tires due to the additional mass by goodyear dealer and that sometimes only road force balancing will work. First I heard of it as well. They did not have one by the way!?!?

OK I just thought I would throw it out there, do you have snow in your area right now? I had the same thing a couple winters ago, truck would shake like no other at 70 mph, and it was due to snow packed on the inside of the rims.

EDIT: Nevermind I re-read your post tom and it says that you noticed it during the summer. Haha no snow in the summer...

Since i've had the Michelins the last 85,000 miles; can't complain at all about the ride....of course i know what to ask for in the future.

I honestly dont believe in road force balancing. why? Because I work with that machine and a regular balancer every day. the road force simply requires us to make sure the air pressure is PRECISE and the weight gets placed dead center in the location required. I balance oversized dura tracs and 35 inch tall tires on the regular balancer and have not had anyone complain of vibration, it all depends on the guy installing your tires if he dont give a crap yea your gonna have vibration no matter what

Had never heard of it before, until I was selling a new Durango with a nasty!! vibration at freeway speed. It failed the "road force" test on 2 out of 4 tires. Replaced the tires, and all was good.
