2013 roof channels are rusting at the rear resessed areas. There is bubbling rust and I need to know what to do to clean it, treat it, and how to seal it. I don't give a hoot what it looks like as it can't be seen from below. I just need this rust stopped, treated, and waterproofed.
All inputs are appreciated.

Do you have a Dremel tool ? Use it and a small wire brush to get rid of as much as possible, then spray it with some Rustoleum Reformer to treat the metal, then spray it with some Rustoleum gloss acrylic enamel (Automotive quality) in whatever color you need. You can find it at any Home Cheapo. It's very common on all Expeditions / Navigators / F-trucks . Ford didn't use any galvanized metal on the roof panels, and they are very prone to rusting in the low areas. It's just something you have to keep an eye on, and treat it when necessary. Check the metal between the hinges on the rear hatch too. Really anything related to the roof panel. I found big rust holes under the roof racks.

Had a corrosion issue the the roof of my 2016. It occurred at the edge of the roof rack bolt mounting point.

Discovered it when I decided to pull my roof rack for a smooth/ shaved look. Replaced the hardware with shorter bolts for a smooth finish. Used teflon tape and thin rubber gasket for a seal to insure no leaks.

Ended up trading it before it became an issue. Would’ve never known this was going on if I hadn’t decided to do the mod.

Also, while on this subject I’ll urge owners to keep an eye out for corrosion on the rear hatch. Be sure to wipe the bottom/ side edges clean to prevent corrosion.

Though I keep this area clean (apparently not clean enough) there was evidence of corrosion (bubbling/ brittle paint) on the bottom edge.

Rear Hatch and Front hood on every one of my Expeditions and Explorers... Ford has never dealt with this issue and it has been ongoing for at least 30 years plus.
