Hi, on a 2012 Expedition 2WD, does anyone know the purpose of the accessory that occupies the round space of the 4WD switch? It is a round concave piece of black plastic this might resemble a coin storage area, except coins don't fit properly, and there's already a location to store coins in the console.

In the attached image, it's located directly beneath the left air vent just to the right of the steering wheel.

Swapping this for a gauge, clock, or cell phone holder has been popular in the F150 world.

Thanks for your assistance and for including the images. Is it your opinion this may be a coin holder? Also, very interested in making use of that spot with a gauge or cell phone holder. Where would you find something like this?
